High Ropes & Outdoor Adventure Parks
For operators of high ropes and aerial adventure parks, the line between an exhilarating experience and a liability is defined by the rigor of your inspection regime. With course elements that have no backup safety/redundancy system, mistakes and failures cannot occur
At Aidaptive, from our ACCT training we provide expert consulting and independent inspections tailored to the AS 3533 and AS 2316 suite of standards, ensuring your Ropes Courses are compliant, safe, and operational.
Comprehensive Compliance for Peace of Mind
High ropes courses are unique engineering challenges. Under AS 2316.2.2 and AS3533.2 inspections of these structuresrequire specialised oversight that goes beyond a simple visual check. Aidaptive offers a holistic approach to safety:
Annual Detailed Inspections: A “top-to-bottom” audit of structural integrity, including wire rope health, terminations, anchor points, and platform stability.
Operational & Maintenance Audits: We review your daily logs, rescue procedures, and staff training protocols to ensure they align with Australian regulatory requirements.
PPE & Technical Equipment Reviews: Verification of your safety chain—from harnesses and lanyards to continuous belay systems—ensuring every component is within its service life and fit for purpose.
Risk Mitigation Consulting: We identify potential failure points before they become incidents, protecting your patrons and your brand reputation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does my high ropes course legally require an AS 3533 inspection?
Yes. In Australia, high ropes courses and aerial adventure parks are classified as amusement devices (registered plant). To comply with Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations and to maintain valid insurance coverage, your facility must undergo an annual comprehensive inspection by a competent person as defined in AS2316.2.1 andAS3533.3.
What is the difference between an “Operational” inspection and your “Annual” Inspection?
Operational inspections are typically done daily or periodically by your own staff. The Aidaptive Annual Inspection is an independent, third-party audit. We look deeper into structural engineering, material fatigue, and compliance documentation that daily checks might miss, providing the formal certification required for your annual registration. In addition to the guiding design/operation standards, we apply the National Audit Tool (NAT), looking deeper into the operation of the asset, capability of the employees and overall condition.
How long does a typical inspection take?
The duration depends on the size and complexity of your course (e.g., number of elements, tiers, and zip lines). Most mid-sized courses take 1 to 2 days on-site. We aim to minimise your downtime by scheduling inspections during your off-peak hours or maintenance days.
What happens if you find a non-compliance issue?
Our goal is to keep you open. If we identify a fault, we categorize it by risk level. We provide a clear, actionable rectification plan, advising you on whether a component needs immediate decommissioning or if it can be monitored until the next scheduled maintenance period.
Does Aidaptive inspect the trees as well as the structures?
While we inspect the hardware attached to trees, AS 3533.4.2 requires that a qualified Arborist also assesses the health of the trees at least once a year. We can work alongside your arborist or recommend a specialist to ensure both the “living” and “built” components of your course are certified simultaneously.
How soon after the inspection will I receive my report?
We know you need your paperwork for registration and insurance. Aidaptive provides a end of visit debriefs to guide on immediate actions. A written summary of major findings immediately after the site visit, followed by a comprehensive formal report within 5-7 business days.
