Derek is a professional Mechanical Engineer with 30 years of experience in developing and implementing industrial automation solutions for many global brands. He stays at the forefront of trends in mechatronics, including collaborative robotics, warehouse automation, emerging safety standards, fabrication and integration management.
As a Mechanical Engineering, Derek’s expertise extends well beyond technical design to product development (including FEA and component Failure Modes Analysis), destructive and ND testing, test design, concept development, detailed design, system architecture, to CAD, hydraulic component design, development & mass production, for both civilian and defence requirements.
He adds to this with significant software programming capability for control systems and advanced automation applications.
Complementing his technical skills, Derek excels in managing projects at client facilities across Australia, including remote areas, and demonstrates exceptional organisational skills and a hands-on approach that keeps him engaged in the practical aspects of engineering.
